40+ Cool Games To Play With Your Alexa

Amazon Echos are one of the hardest-working smart home hubs available, but your Alexa can do a lot more than turn on and off your lights or play music. One of the most fun ways to use it is to play one of its many great games. We’ve put together a list of more than 40 of our favorites. There’s a game for everyone, from choose-your-own-adventure games and music quizzes to trivia challenges and family-friendly fun.

You’ll be able to play every one of these games on almost any device that supports Alexa—including your smartphone through the Alexa app. However, devices with a screen—like the Echo Show 10—can sometimes do things like display your score or otherwise offer a more engaging gaming experience.

How to install games on your Alexa

First things first. To install a game for Alexa:

  • Open the Alexa app on your smartphone.
  • Tap the “More” button.
  • Tap “Skills & Games.”
  • Then either use the “Discover,” “Categories” or “Search” options to find the game you want to install.
  • Tap “Enable to Use” to install.
  • Play! (You can tell Alexa to “open” your game.)

Most games are free, and we suggest you start with the free version to see whether you like playing it. Then you’ll see the option on the app for “In Skill Purchases Available,” so you can add features and challenges and questions and themes.

Best Alexa trivia games

Trivia games are some of the best games to play with Alexa, as they don’t need a screen or flashy graphics to be awesome. Many of the best quiz games are based on famous TV trivia shows, so you probably already know the rules.

Jeopardy!” is, of course, one of our favorites. With six free clues every day, you can get plenty of practice in for when you eventually appear on the show.

If “Deal or No Deal” is more your jam, don’t worry—it’s available on Alexa, too.

Or, if you grew up watching “The Price Is Right,” you can play that as well. And, in a fun twist, the prices of all the items are pulled from Amazon.com.

Not every Alexa trivia game is based on a TV show, though. “Song Quiz” and “Film Quiz” challenge you to guess the right song or movie from a short audio clip.

Some of the other fun quiz and trivia games you can try are:

Best Alexa adventure games

Alexa can do more than just ask questions. Your Echo device can take you on a full-blown adventure, whether it’s escaping from a locked room, solving a crime or exploring a fantasy world. Here are some of the best Alexa adventure games:

Escape the Room” turns your living room or kitchen into a puzzle-filled escape room. Whether you’re stuck in a jail cell, office or spaceship, you have to get out using only your brains.

If you’re more interested in exploring, “The Magic Door” guides you on an adventure through a magical land with a few different regions where you can solve riddles and help the fantastical residents.

Or, if you feel like testing your skills as a secret agent, check out “Codename Cygnus.” It was one of the original audio adventures.

Best Alexa family games

While Alexa games can be a good way to kill some time gaming solo, there are also lots of fun games for the whole family to play together.

True or False for Family” and “Would You Rather Family” are family-friendly takes on the traditional party games. Gather everyone together, and you can play knowing Alexa won’t say anything untoward.

If you want to sneak in a bit of learning, both “National Geographic Bee” and “Spelling Bee” can challenge the entire family.

Other family-friendly games include:

Best Alexa kids games

Alexa games are a great way to entertain kids without using a screen. “The Queen’s Mathematician” requires kids to solve math and word problems in order to rescue the queen who’s been kidnapped by mischievous elves, while “Hide and Seek” challenges them to hide in the same room as your Echo device and see if Alexa can find them in three tries.

Best Alexa multi-player games

We’re big fans of multi-player games, and if you are too, check out these Alexa games that are great to play with a group of friends.

“Bingo” is a classic party game for a reason, and you can get Alexa to be your Bingo caller. Grab some bingo cards online and invite your friends around for a great night in.

Ellen DeGeneres’ “Heads Up!” is another great game that demands a crowd. Guess the celebrity, movie, fictional character and more on the card before the timer runs out, and see who among you knows their stuff best.

Lots of other games work really well for multiple players, including:

Now it’s time to get playing! Keep in mind that using lots of devices at once and keeping a busy smart home running takes a lot of bandwidth.
